A Worcester judge yesterday lifted a temporary
restraining order that halted the probe of the July 24 Hopkinton explosion
that killed two children.
The order was issued last Friday at the request of an
attorney representing Heath and Tara Carey, whose daughters, Iris, 4, and
Violet, 5 perished in the blast.
During a hearing yesterday in Worcester Superior Court,
Judge James P. Donahue dissolved the order, allowing investigators to
continue their probe.
"We're completely in the dark with respect to the
state's investigation. It's a disappointing decision. There is going to be
an appeal," attorney John Wozniak said.
Wozniak said the couple wanted their own expert present
as investigators examine appliances, gas meters and piping taken from the
scene.
"The state fire marshal's office shares the Carey
family's sense of urgency and concern to determine the cause and origin at
the tragic explosion," said state Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan.
