(Hopkinton-AP) -- Officials in Hopkinton have released a tape of a
9-1-1 call made just before a deadly house explosion. And it supports the
theory that the blast was caused by natural gas.
The call was made early yesterday morning on a cell phone outside the
multi-family home on Main Street. Janet Webster -- a resident of the house
-- reported hearing a "terrible noise" in the basement and a bad
odor of gas.
A short time later, the house blew up, killing two young sisters who
were asleep in the same bed. Their parents and at least two other people
were hurt.
A memorial fund has been set up for the two little girls, who were
four- and five-years-old.
Donations can be sent to the Violet and Iris Carey Memorial Fund, care
of the Fleet Bank at 209 Main Street in Milford.
